Switzerland
Dr. David Bosshart was CEO of the GDI Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute for consumption, economic and social studies from 1999 to 2020. Since 2020 he has been President of the G. and A. Duttweiler Foundation.
Christoph Bründl
Austria
CEO of the family company Intersport Bründl. He studied business in Linz, Austria, and Miami, USA. The passionate entrepreneur focuses on an emotional sales approach and shop aura. His flagship store in Kaprun won the EuroShop Retail Design Award 2010.
Berk Eksioglu
Turkey
Co-CEO of Istanbul Doors Restaurant Group. The founders have developed the business from one restaurant into a network of 18 including several of the best known dining venues in Istanbul. Berk studied in the USA, he has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Jean-Luc Fourrier
France
Vice President Restaurant Concepts, Luxury Brands & Full Service for Hilton Hotels in Middle East, Asia Pacific & Africa. He oversees the development of Food & Beverage with the focus on creating dining concepts for new properties. He graduated from the Hotel School in France with a Cornell University Diploma.
Dan Holm
USA
Dan Holm is Director Brand Marketing & Digital Experience for Carrabba’s Italian Grill. He has 10+ years of experience in digital product, strategy, digital marketing, e-commerce and customer loyalty. Formerly he was Director of Digital Innovation at Bloomin’ Brands – responsible for a portfolio of national restaurant chains. Dan is a modern marketer and family man with three children.
Ibrahim Ibrahim
USA
Managing director and owner of Portland, an enterprise deidcated to understanding consumers’ relationship with brands. Ibrahim holds a degree in Aeronautical Engineering, he is a post graduate of The Royal College of Art and Imperial College, London and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Rex A. Jones
USA
Executive Director International of Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. Former employers are Blockbuster and McDonald’s for whom he took care of the business in the United States and Asia. Jones holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Kansas State University.
Rudi Kull
Founder and CEO of Kull &Weinzierl. The company operates hotels and restaurants in Munich. Only recently, they opened a design hotel, the ‘Louis’ at the ‘Viktualienmarkt’. Kull was born in the former USSR, learnt the foodservice business in North America and now runs benchmark operations in the capital of Bavaria.
Julian Metcalfe
Great Britain
Co-founder of Pret A Manger. 24 years after foundation there are more than 250 Pret Restaurants around the world. Metcalfe is now building up a second empire: Itsu, an eat-in/take-away concept with a healthy fast food alternative.
Samy Molcho
Israel
Celebrated mime-artist. He has added psychological and dramatic elements to the art of mime and performed in over 50 different countries. He was professor at the Max-Reinhardt Institute in Vienna. He is author of best-seller books, among them ‘All about body language’.
Jens Moritz
Germany
Partner of EQT Partners and responsible for EQT Expansion Capital’s activities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. He has long experience in the private equity industry. Moritz holds a degree in Business Administration.
Christopher C. Muller
USA
Chris Muller is a leading academic expert in the field of restaurant management. His research has focused on multi-unit organizations, development and growth, and the training of multi-unit managers and leaders. He has held positions at Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration, UCF’s Rosen College, Boston University, and is currently Courtesy Professor of Executive Education at FIU’s Chaplin School of Hospitality. He is an author and has lectured around the globe.
Ly Qui Trung
Vietnam
Co-founder and CEO of Nam An Group, the biggest F&B corporation in Vietnam. He also pioneered franchising in his country. Main brand: Pho24, a Vietnamese noodle restaurant. Trung took his PhD in hospitality management in Australia and the USA.
Gretel Weiss
Germany
Gretel Weiss is co-founder and publisher of the two leading trade magazines – food-service (since 1982) and foodservice Europe & Middle East (since 1998). She is a recognized expert with insider knowledge of the chain-restaurant industry. Her background is farming, university degrees in Nutritional Science and Economics.

COVID certificate
In order to provide you with the safest and most unrestricted conference experience possible, a valid COVID certificate and official ID are required to attend the conference.
The certificate serves as proof that you are fully vaccinated, recovered or have tested negative. This will allow all participants to move around the GDI more freely and without a mask.
The GDI will offer free COVID tests on both days of the conference. If you test negative, you can get the certificate you need right on the spot. The testing facilities are located directly in front of the institute, at the following hours:
- 6 October 7.30 – 9.00 p.m. at Bellevue Apotheke
- 7 October 9.00 – 12.00 a.m. at GDI Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute, Rüschlikon
- 8 October at Pill Apotheke & Drogerie Glärnisch, Weingartenstrasse 11, 8803 Rüschlikon
The Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) has published further information on the COVID certificate and the entry requirements for Switzerland.

Changes to the programme
The programme is subject to change. Should the event fail to take place, fees will be refunded. Further claims are ruled out.
Cancellation
Cancellations must reach us by 25 August 2021. After this deadline and until 5 whole working days prior tho the beginning of the conference, participants will be chrged 75% of the fee. The full amount is charged for cancellations thereafter. Naturally, a substitute participant will be welcome.

Transport
From Zurich airport
You can reach the GDI and partner hotels by taxi in around 45 minutes. The cost is approximately CHF 100, depending on traffic. Alternatively, the train is a fast and easy way of reaching Zurich and Thalwil train station (online timetable).
There will be a free shuttle bus service between the GDI and the Hotel Sedartis / Thalwil train station.
Shuttle bus: Thalwil – GDI
The GDI shuttle bus runs from the Thalwil train station to the GDI. The bus will wait on the lake side of the station. A GDI staff member will be on site to meet you. Hotel Sedartis guests may also use this bus.

The car park is a five minute walk from the GDI and located on Zürcherstrasse 4, 8803 Rüschlikon. You will receive a ticket from the GDI to exit the car park free of charge.
