12th European Trend Day – SOLD OUT!
High Touch, Not High Tech: New Desires in the Post-Digital Age
THE TREND DAY IS FULLY BOOKED. SIGN UP FOR THE WAIT LIST BY EMAIL.
The web has brought networking to our computers and the Internet of Things to our homes, cars and infrastructure. Meanwhile health wearables have let algorithms take over our bodies, too.
Now, at the pinnacle of the virtual age, we are witnessing a rebirth of the real, the concrete, the material. A new, tangible internet is emerging.
In the post-digital age, the technology behind material things will begin to disappear. Instead of interacting with screens as we do today in the Internet of Things, in the future we will interact directly with the things themselves. Far from any romanticised notion of “returning to nature”, our attentions are shifting from the digital to the new analogue realm. Materials and surfaces are taking on a dual function: technology carriers and touchpoints.
Sense and sensibility are becoming more important in customer relationships; the demand for tactile experience is growing and personal encounters are becoming more valuable. Consequently, identity management is becoming a crucial issue for companies, customers and citizens alike.
How can the relationships of tomorrow be forged successfully? What new customer needs will emerge? What developments will impact the economy and society in the post-digital age? These questions will be answered at the 12th European Trend Day hosted by GDI.
