Supermarket, specialty shop, restaurant, lifestyle location: the new concept "Habitat" developed by the Singapore retailer Honestbee successfully combines them. The consulting firm IGD listed Habitat as one of the "must-see grocery stores of 2019".
The huge NewGen supermarket offers 20,000 products on over 60,000 square meters. “We designed it so that customers can get their groceries and meals efficiently but also linger and enjoy the experience”, says Managing Director Pauline Png. Cashless payment via apps and robot-controlled pick-up stations for purchases have are a convenient reality. .
Habitat also functions as an e-commerce fulfilment centre for the delivery service of its parent company Honestbee and as an innovation hub for the retail sector. New retail concepts, technologies and logistics will be tested here.
The result after six months of operation: customers spend more time here than in any other supermarket, approximately two hours. The two largest customer groups are 26 to 35 years old (41 %) and 36 to 45 years old (28 %), respectively. 64 % of these customers visit the supermarket because of its friendly neighbourhood atmosphere. But take a look for yourself.
